CHRISTOPHER CROSS – Every Turn Of The World / Back Of My Mind [Friday Music 2-CD Remastered] , MP3+FLAC
The multi-talented superstar and Grammy, Academy and Golden Globe Award winning CHRISTOPHER CROSS released a string a really good albums during the late ’70s and the ’80s with a melodic, smooth feeling. As requested, here’s the Friday Music 2-CD Remastered reissue of Cross’ more AORish sounding LP’s: 1985’s ”Every Turn Of The World”, and 1988’s ”Back Of My Mind” – remastered for the first time ever.
Cross had just ran through a series of major hit singles, albums and movie music, when he opted for a more rocking approach to show his really fine guitar work and angelic voice successfully with 1985 ”Every Turn Of The World”. This album includes several hit singles like the catchy ‘Charm The Snake’, ‘That Girl’ and the wonderfully orchestrated tracks like ‘Open Your Heart’ and ‘It’s You That Really Matters’. Produced by the unstoppable Michael Omartian, ”Every Turn Of The World” gets a new life once again, thanks to the new remastering included in this 2-CD set. A pure ’80s album.
1988’s ”Back Of My Mind” was one of the finest albums of that year, and again, Cross worked with a stellar cast of top notch musicians with friends like Michael McDonald, Christine McVie, Michael Omartian, Byron Berline and others.
Reminiscent of his first self titled album, ”Back Of My Mind” included the hits ‘I Will (Take You Forever)’, ‘Swept Away’ and the radio hit ‘Never Stop Believing’ featuring the soulful voice of Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie.
As with ”Every Turn Of The World”, this disc has a fresh remastering from reputed Joe Reagoso (Hall and Oates, Chicago, Doobie Brothers, Boz Scaggs, America)
While most people know Christopher Cross for his 1979 debut album including his biggest single ‘Ride Like The Wind’ (a FM radio staple classic), not many, especially ’80s AOR / pop-rock fans, have heard ”Every Turn Of The World” and ”Back Of My Mind”.
Well, this 2-CD remastered release sound quality is top notch. It’s time for a proper listen.
