MOST WANTED SCANDI – AOR SINGLES EVER! Vol. 1 & 2
With the recent post of “Rock Of Norway presents: Melodic Hard Rock and AOR / Rare Singles” featured in exclusive at , many of you asked for more rare / hard to find singles from the genre, mostly released in the ’80s.
MOST WANTED SCANDI-AOR SINGLES EVER! includes not only Norwegian bands but also from Sweden, and while some of these tracks later appeared as bonus tracks on reissues of the few acts that were able to release at least one full length LP, most of these never see a proper digital reissue.
All the songs included into this Vol.1 & Vol. are taken from 7″ vinyl / 45 RPM, but the sound quality is very good.
Among the pearls here we find Swedes LION’S SHARE, whom reformed in the 90s releasing high-quality albums but in a hard rock style. Few know that in ’88 they produced this magnificent Scandi- AOR single with a completely different line-up. Other Swedes, VON ROSEN, left some very good singles, with interesting arrangements and great vocals.
BORDERLINE plays classic Scandi AOR strongly influenced by hard rock, a very good combination with nice Eighties sound. It’s rumored that they recorded a full length, which remains unpublished to date.
CHERIE was a great Swedish promise, unfortunately only recorded this single, extremely melodic, with great choruses. RETURN released several singles in Norway prior to their first full lenght, this is the first of all and only has one song, a harbinger of great things to come.
Featuring talented PEO Pettersson on lead vocals, AXIA used to play catchy and well crafted scandi AOR, contagious. Here’s the one-sided single, a track not included in the LP (recorded one year later).
MAEDAY released one LP, only on vinyl, with very good songs following the typical swedish Scandi – AOR mould. Here’s the promo-only 7” single, not for sale.
And we get the great JIM JIDHED. Before joining Alien, the stupendous singer released several singles in Sweden, this one contains two great tracks beautifully performed.
Pure ’80s AOR for fans of that glorious era / scene.

Maybe a left-field choice for some, seeing as this was the band put together by Mercyful Fate guitarist Hank Sherman, but the fact remains, this is a quality melodic rock album. Released in 1986, A Matter Of Attitude, the band's second album, is packed with Scandi-AOR gems such as Hard As A Rock, I Won't Stop, (I Can't Stand) Losing You, Limbo A Go-Go and the brilliant Summerlove.
After our recent post 'Most Wanted Scandi AOR Singles Ever' featuring Scandinavian AOR / Melodic Rock bands from the '80s whom only got the chance to record / release singles, one of you asked for another band not included into the compilation: MOGG. MOGG formed in the early Eighties, and as most Rock acts from the era were influenced by the British metal / hard rock scene, and later ...
This is my favorite style ever: Scandi - AOR A bunch of rare singles released by some well known bands, some not, only released in the cold scandinavian lands. None of these tracks appeared on official albums and of course, all are 7'' vinyl only singles. Swedes DALTON, wonderful band that left us 2 jewels, wonderful albums. The first track is an '89 single B-side, the other two from their ...
