Mark Knopfler – The Boy – 2024 LP
“The Boy” is new studio 12” EP by MARK KNOPFLER featuring four brand-new tracks released exclusively for Record Store Day 2024 – something extra special Mark wanted to give to fans whilst supporting local record stores. It’s limited to 3,000 copies, only vinyl.
The songs revolve around boxing and fairground boxing booths where members of the public could take on a professional fighter – if they lasted three rounds, they got paid! ”The Boy” was released as a standalone EP for Record Store Day following the recent release of Mark’s 10th album ‘One Deep River’.
But there’s more from Knopfler 2024. He just released a new, very special recording of his anthemic song ‘Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)’.
The song was recorded by ‘Mark Knopfler’s Guitar Heroes‘, featuring an unprecedented line-up of some of the greatest Rock guitarists and musicians in history. Just to mention a few: Steve Lukather, Jonathan Cain, Brian May, Joe Satriani, Slash, Andy Taylor, David Gilmour, Alex Lifeson, Eric Clapton, and many more.

Record Store Day 2024 Release. As a boy, Mark Knopfler was captivated by the giant funfair held every year on Newcastle Town Moor. The songs on his new EP The Boy connect themes of the fairgrounds and their boxing booths commonplace in the Britain of the 50s and early 60s.
