Black Light District macht deutlich, warum die Band ihr komplettes Umfeld umgekrempelt hat. Die halbstündige EP präsentiert The Gathering so unkommerziell wie noch nie zuvor. Vom einstmaligen Metal- oder gar Death-Metal-Sound ist nichts mehr geblieben, anno 2002 geht man betont spartanisch und atmosphärisch zur Sache.
