MEXICAN DOLLS – Rock Your Soul 2024, Reissue+3 bonus, MP3+FLAC
Rockers MEXICAN DOLLS are releasing today their new album “Rock Your Soul“, including some re-worked songs from their 2009 debut album plus new ones. Well, it doesn’t care too much when these songs where recorded, as all sound timeless American melodic hard rock circa 1987.
MEXICAN DOLLS love the Sunset Strip golden era, and their music reflects that. “Rock Your Soul” isn’t sleazy or dirty, but more on the clean, melodic side of glam hard rock, very well composed and executed.
They were fortunate to have legendary producer David Prater (Dream Theater, Firehouse) to mix some songs, so this provide an idea of the overall sound on “Rock Your Soul”; very melodic and polished.
Mexican Dolls born in Sydney, Australia, towards the end of year 2007. It all started when drummer Dave Alatorre and vocalist Nacho Ibanez met. Chatting about the music they liked and realizing that the world needed an original, modern musical proposition, they decided to form a band that would fulfill people’s music expectations. That same day, the concept for Mexican Dolls was created.
After a few weeks, and a relentless search for guitar and bass players, they received a call from Martin D’Alessio, who would become the third component of the band. Although the bass player’s position was still uncertain, they started to record their first demo at the Glamrock Avenue Studios in Bondi Beach, since they had started to get offers from people interested in their musical concept.
They started to play shows at La Campana, a Spanish club in the centre of Sydney. The owner of the place was so pleased, that he asked them to play there every Tuesday night. They started to become known in the Sydney scene, and began to play festivals as heading act.
Few months after the band was created, and once their first Demo was recorded, Mexican Dolls was summoned upon to open for the legendary band from the ’80s – Whitesnake, in their Sydney and Brisbane shows. For these two events, they decided that JB Ibanez, Nacho Ibanez’s brother, was to play the bass with the band.
After the two shows, they received several recording propositions, although they never came to concretion. They kept playing and delighting their Australian fans with their music, and planning to record more music. The original version of “Rock Your Soul” came out 2009 released by themselves.
Now 2024 with new songs and others remixed, MEXICAN DOLLS sounds fresh and timeless at the same time. A good band and a good collection of strong songs.
