With the Ron Keel music requests, this one related to also surfaced: 1985’s “Ready For Action” from BLITZKRIEG, produced by Ron Keel. At the time, as Ron’s career was taking off, he took Californian band Blitzkrieg under his wing and produced “Ready For Action”. The project got a lot of attention in the media and sold pretty well, but due to internal fights the group disbanded.

Originally only released on LP and cassette, Retrospect Records unearthed this much sought after record being paid for collectors over $300.
Produced & Engineered by Ron Keel, “Ready For Action” is American melodic metal, and yeah, has a sound similar to early Keel (the band). While the band’s looks / promo pics makes you think mid-80s glam, the music here is heavy, metallic. This is one of those glorious albums in the vein of T.K.O.’s ‘In Your Face’, where the glam is in the photo’s not in the grooves.

Formed in Glendora California in 1983, their lone release was this six-song 1985 “Ready For Action” Mini LP which was scheduled for release on Mike Varney’s Shrapnel label but eventually surfaced on Talen / Greenworld Records in the USA, and on Roadrunner in Europe.
BLITZKRIEG served up classic ’80s Melodic Metal featuring Don Ross’ powerful vocals and the razor sharp twin guitar work of Eric Von Theumer & Jeff Johnson.

So the music has depth, the songs are strong, and production is fairly good considering all was on a budget. The cover art is ridiculous and that’s makes “Ready For Action” even more lovable.
A really nice lost ’80s metallic ditty.

Six tracks of very aggressive heavy (hair) metal of utmost quality. The guitars in particular are of the most scorching type, and the demented leads are mixed upfront for a better devastating effect. Not a single ballad on this!
