Santana is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1966 by Mexican-born guitarist Carlos Santana. The band has undergone various recording and performing line-ups in its history, with Santana being the only consistent member.

Santana was born in Autlán de Navarro in Jalisco, Mexico on July 20, 1947. He learned to play the violin at age five and the guitar at age eight, under the tutelage of his father, who was a mariachi musician. [7] His younger brother, Jorge, also became a professional guitarist.

Carlos Santana ist ein US-amerikanischer Gitarrist mexikanischer Herkunft, der durch die Musikrichtung Latin Rock die Rockmusik um eine Variante erweitert hat. Seine bekanntesten Stücke sind das Instrumental Samba Pa Ti sowie Oye como va und Black Magic Woman; alle vom Nummer-eins-Album Abraxas aus dem Jahr 1970.
