Saratoga – Nemesis (2012)

New release of Saratoga, which will not count as yet another, but as the third of the new training.

On a first listen, the disc is not easy, does not enter the first and leaves you feeling disappointed first. I must say, GREAT previous work of the band, I have become bored with many listeners. I think this is a bit otherwise. The guitar master Tony Hernando, have a multitude of shades and colors that are probably not of easy listening, but for lovers of art and the more elaborate compositions may shelling delight your ears for long.

The voice of Tete Novoa, is a reference already in this country, when adjectives seek other vocalists. Having already demonstrated its scope in terms of octaves and multiple records in this record, you note loose, not wanting to prove anything anymore, and therefore more comfortable. He has done an excellent job with the voices, without abusing acute, but of course, not without them.

Niko del Hierro, referring to the band, gives credit for demonstrating sound was voted best bassist in the country at different times, a title the other hand, is difficult to maintain given the a level that Spanish musicians have today: Sublime.

Finally comment a genius, no only as drummer, as a musician, is Andy C. Besides unleashing the batteries on the disc, is felt production and some repairs at the songs, really spectacular. The appearance of keyboards on time, and as we are accustomed lately, piano on some tracks, make clear that his hand has much to say about the arrangements.

The album was recorded and mastered at Roland Grapow studies in the Czech Republic and the cover has been done by Felipe Machado. The mime who have spent on it, are reflected in the final result, with impeccable quality.

Entering a little on the disc opens with the theme we met as the first single from the band Juicio Final, which gives it a musical continuity. One track, which introduced nothing new, keeps everything you'd expect lifelong follower of the band, with a chorus easily recognizable.

We still have a part-time rather slow, touching ballad, with that appearance of pianos and even acoustic guitars in a timely manner. It is a topic that starts singing Tete, which whisper without shelling until well into the subject, his vocal chords to the max, providing excellent contrast, as in the chorus, reaching notes, just booked a few throats. Good theme, offering something new to the sound of the whole life of the band, but also recognizable in the previous albums, ..., it is Hasta El Día Más Oscuro.

Topics quick easy listening, in the wake of the hand appear Saratoga La última frontera, in tribute to the fans of South America as Revolucion much flatter in composition, or Angel o Demonio which closes the album.

Perversidad is a subject hard, heavy, slow and offered new ideas to the compositions of the band, making a big deal back to the contrast between piano melody, almost ballad, with a heaviness and a load of hardness, nothing comparable to what is expected of the band, but is a sign of renewed or die. The court has shown parts of a heavy battery, regardless of incapié guitar to give greater force when it appears. A similar rhythm exists in Después del silencio. Without abusing continuous double bass, and without offering the speed at which we had used the band, but with a chorus snap easily. This combination of easy entry chorus, combined with more complex and difficult stanzas, gives a new look, already introduced in previous publications, also lowering the pitch of the instruments, offering state sounds hard and aggressive.

Again not so easily come to the ears disk and requires multiple listeners to appreciate what the band tries to convey a good example is the beginning of Maltratador leads to a hard, smooth and dark riff, talking about the social problem that we still have with women in this country, at the hands of mindless thugs. I must admit that on occasion, the shadowing of the band, even reminded me, bridging the gap in terms of darkness refers, of course, Stravaganzza, and offering much more musical riffs but never to be comparable with previous stages of the band. Perhaps this fact will make followers of all life, to feel a little disappointed, but personally, I prefer darker sounds and worked, I rejoice to see the band, with a new road map, go ahead even having somewhat different to offer

El último Vals is another example of mid-tempo, touching the qualification of ballad, but with a sound hard, preventing them from this description of the pure.

Condenado, has a hard sound, with screaming vocals that recall very vaguely and very far to Dog Traitor as a conceptual idea of the topic, but conceived in a much more serious and dark, so really, the ear has little to do. Clear evolution of the band to sound more current.

Very good album of the band from Madrid, although it will cost to reach their lifelong fans, given the evolution that undergoes the band's sound to suit the times, and by input from new members, carrying them will acquire a new personality, equally high quality , but different than we were used, much more technical and obscure.
