Geboren wurde Steve Gibbons am 14. Juli 1941 in Birmingham. Bereits während seiner Installateurlehre fand er schnell Anschluß zur Musikszene seiner Heimatstadt und sammelte in den dort ansäßigen Clubs erste Erfahrungen mit lokalen Gruppen. Aus seiner ersten Band THE DOMINETTES entwickelten sich 1963/64 THE UGLYS, die in der Region einen gewissen Bekanntheitsgrad erlangen konnten ...
