The band was founded by three conservatory students Michel Kamen, Marty Fulterman (known as Mark Snow), Dorian Rudnytsky and two rock musicians Brian Corrigan and Clif Nivison.Students and rock musicians had a common friend, a producer, who suggested that they unite in one group. After their first gig in 1967, they signed with Atlantic Records.
