GODIVA (Fernando Garcia of Victory) – Destruction [Digipak +1 bonus] 2007
The album from Swiss outfit GODIVA, the band lead singer Fernando Garcia formed after leaving hard rockers VICTORY. Godiva’s musical orientation isn’t far from Victory’s delivery; read screaming twin guitar harmonies/solos, pounding drums, and crystal clear Garcia’s big vocals in the European style are the main ingredients of ”Destruction”
Recorded, mixed and produced by expert Dennis Ward, you only can expect a punchy, bright sound where all instruments are identifiable and Fernando’s wide vocal range finds place to shine throughout.
Blending the metallic edge of Judas Priest, the melody of Allen/Lande, and the hard rock groove of Gotthard, Godiva’s “Destruction”‘ has something for everyone.
These guys know how to do it. ”Destruction” is a ballsy assault on the ears that brings back fond memories of the glory days of the genre, while still serving a modern vigor. All songs pack headbangable riffs and extremely catchy choruses that will never stop playing in your head.
Having supported the likes of Scorpions, Whitesnake, Saxon, etc, the praise given to Godiva is accurate. Backed by a fantastic, clear, huge production sound, Godiva march forth on their black steeds. There’s not much “depth” to this album, and there is nothing here you haven’t heard before, but Godiva isn’t about progression or musical virtuosity, they just want to make some good, classic metal / hard rock and that’s exactly what they do, in spades.

'Hell's On Fire' is another powerful metal song where the the drums and bass provide a thunderous beat behind roaring vocals and thrilling fret work. Make sure you pick up the edition with the bonus track, 'Revelation.' This is another fine metal song where the arrangement contains includes an inventive vocal styling.
Sadly this band disbanded after putting out this killer album. Imagine the band Victory if they had been heavier and you have this monster. Highly recommended. Show more Show more
