War & Eric Burdon – Discography [1970-1999] (20 CDs), MP3
War (originally titled Eric Burdon and War) is an American funk band from California, known for tracks such as "Low Rider", "Spill the Wine", "The Cisco Kid" and "Why Can't We Be Friends?" .
In 1969, Eric Burdon's producer Jerry Goldstein discovered a band called Nightshift and suggested the possibility of collaborating with former The Animals vocalist Eric Burdon. The latter was just looking for a new musical direction for himself together with the Danish harmonist Lee Oskar. After the Nightshift concert, Burdon took control of the band, replacing the two buglers with Oscar and giving them the provocative new name War. The group was a new musical trend at the intersection of elements of rock, jazz, funk, Latino, rhythm and blues and reggae. It broke down racial and cultural barriers through its multi-ethnic makeup. Over 50 million War records have been sold to date.
